International Political Economy in Latin America: theory and practice

This project grew out of the need to strengthen the teaching and study of International Political Economy (IPE) in Latin America through Spanish-language academic materials, built from within the region and attentive to its debates, experiences and challenges.

It combines the presentation of the discipline’s core concepts, theories and approaches with their application to Latin American problems and cases. The aim is not to replace the international literature, but to widen the perspectives from which IPE is taught and analysed, incorporating debates, authors and experiences from Latin America.

Project objectives

  1. Strengthen IPE teaching in Latin America through Spanish-language academic materials connected to the realities of the region.
  2. Present the discipline's main concepts, theories and debates in a way that is accessible to undergraduate and graduate students.
  3. Connect the tools of IPE with Latin American problems, processes and cases.
  4. Foster a more plural understanding of the discipline by incorporating perspectives and experiences produced from Latin America.
  5. Strengthen collaboration among Latin American researchers working on International Political Economy.
